Judges

The awards will be judged by an independent team of senior housing industry figures, both Female & Male who represent a broad spectrum of knowledge and expertise.

The Judges are as follows:

Alison Inman OBE Chair – Broadland Housing Association & President – CIH (Chartered Institute of Housing)
Alison Inman is vice-President of the Chartered Institute of Housing, a Board member at Colne Housing Society and Tpas, and co-founder of SHOUT, the social housing campaign. She has been a mentor on the HDN Board Member Mentoring Scheme, Chair of Colchester Borough Homes and the National Federation of ALMOs.

Collette King Chief Executive – Equity Housing Group
Collette is the new Chief Executive of Equity Housing Group and a Board Member of the Calico Group. Previously, she worked for the First Ark Group where she was Executive Director of Business Transformation.

A people focused leader, Collette believes that business success revolves around recognising and motivating colleagues, and delivering real and sustainable value for customers. Coming from a fast paced commercial background, she is committed to a value driven business approach which achieves efficiency and a better service for customers.

Emma Maier Editor – Inside Housing
Emma Maier joined Inside Housing as editor in 2014, having edited Local Government Chronicle since 2009. Before that she was deputy editor of social workers’ magazine Community Care, where she led the Stand Up Now for Social Work campaign to improve media portrayals and public perceptions of the profession. Previously she deputy edited Third Sector, the news magazine for voluntary sector chief executives.

Heidi Thompson Director Of Property – Kirklees Housing & WISH (Women in Social Housing) Yorkshire Board member
Heidi is the Director of Property for Kirklees Neighbourhood Housing and the co-founder and Chair of the Women in Social Housing (WISH) Yorkshire and Humber region. Heidi is a construction professional with a career spanning over 25 years’ in social housing and the construction industry. Heidi is a Building Surveyor by profession and has worked with major organisations including Kier Services, Willmott Dixon Partnerships as well as local authorities including City of Lincoln Council. Heidi has successfully managed all aspects of asset management, including leading Direct Labour Organisations (DLOs) through transformational change; implementing partnering contracts to deliver repairs, maintenance and capital planned programmes; and delivering major change management initiatives.

Ian Gregg Executive Director Asset Services – Riverside Group
Ian is the Executive Director of Asset Services for the Riverside Group and joined them in May 2014. Ian has previously worked for Midland Heart, Parkway Green, The Regenda Group, Guinness Northern Counties and Harvest Housing Group, after initially beginning his career as a student with Manchester City Council.

Ian is also a ForViva Group board member which is a North West Based Housing Group. Ian has also previously sat on the board of Green Vale Homes and on the Board of the Housing Diversity Network (HDN) and also served three years as Chair of HDN.

Nicola Dibb Founder – WISH (Women In Social Housing)
Nicola first set up an informal networking group for women over ten years ago after working for Housing Associations, House builders and Contractors and realising how differently women communicate from men in what is a very male dominated industry.

The development of WISH, its logo, website and formation of the Board has been a journey over the years – always spurred on and encouraged by positive feedback from the women (and men!) who come to the networking events. Nicola is delighted and proud that her first germ of an idea has grown into what WISH is today, supporting women in the sector together with encouraging a new generation to choose construction and/or housing as their career.

James Caspell Head of Business Improvement & Performance – Sutton Housing Partnership 
James is an award-winning equality and diversity specialist who has worked in some of the most diverse areas of London to deliver positive action initiatives to promote workplace equality.

Jenny Osborne Chief Executive – Tpas
Jenny has been Chief Executive at Tpas since 2014. She started with Tpas in 2002 as Membership Manager which began her continued passion and commitment to the Tpas membership family. Jenny is also a board member at Stockport Homes. Jenny is particularly keen to ensure young women have a voice within their communities and are encouraged in their chosen career paths. Before joining Tpas Jenny worked for the Post Office in branch management and HR roles and worked for Scottish and Newcastle Retail based in Leeds in stock control management. Outside of Tpas Jenny loves her book club, helping out at her local park and is head over heels in love with her cocker spaniel Coco.

Lara Oyedele – Speaker and Social Housing Commentator
Lara Oyedele is a campaigner for affordable housing, reducing homelessness and promoting diversity in leadership. Originally trained as journalist, she has almost 30 years housing experience working in housing associations, local authorities and homelessness charities. She is the founding Chair of BMENational which promotes the role of ethnic minority housing associations, and for 8 years, was CEO of Odu-Dua Housing Association. She can be seen highlighting social housing issues on twitter as @LaraOyedele

Lynn Clayton Chair – Newark & Sherwood Homes
Lynn has extensive experience within the housing sector at both Local Authorities and Housing Associations and is also a qualified executive coach. With 15 years at Executive / Director level, she has developed award winning services in Repairs and Maintenance and Tenant Engagement and achieved exceptional levels of employee engagement. Lynn is Chair of the Board at Newark and Sherwood Homes and also sits on the Board of the National Federation of ALMOs and TPAS England. Lynn is passionate about putting customers at the centre of service delivery and engaging them in a meaningful and inclusive way in the improvement and development of services.

Paul Diggory – Paul Diggory Consultants
Now involved in a range of housing and social enterprise related activities, Paul was Chief Executive with North Wales Housing from November 2000 to May 2016, winners of the Silver Award for ‘Best Housing Association’ at the What House Awards 2015. Presented with ‘Outstanding Contribution to Housing in Wales’ at the Welsh Housing Awards 2015, he was also included in the 2015 Visceral Business Ltd ‘Connected CEO Study Top 20’ for digital influence, recently chairing the award-winning CommsHero event pioneered by Resource.

Sallie Bridgen Chief Executive – Housing Diversity Network

Sasha Deepwell Chief Executive – Irwell Valley & North West WISH (Women in Social Housing) Board member
Sasha joined Irwell Valley Housing Association in Greater Manchester as Chief Executive in January 2017. She was previously Deputy CEO at Wulvern Housing Association in Cheshire. She is passionate about the difference brilliant social housing can make for individuals and in communities. She is a Board member of the Chartered Institute of Housing North West Regional Board, Women in Housing North West Board and North West Housing Services (the UK’s largest mutual services agency for housing co-operatives and social enterprises).

Shelagh Grant Chief Executive – The Housing Forum
Shelagh Grant has been Chief Executive of The Housing Forum since 2006 and has built a reputation for advancing practical and collaborative solutions in housing construction and regeneration through a high quality member centred programme. Shelagh is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Housing and served on the CIH Council as a National Representative for 6 years. Shelagh is also a member of the Editorial Panel for House Builder magazine
