Local authority woman of the future

Rosalynn Funnell – Woking Borough Council

Local authority woman of the future
Women in Housing Awards logo

Rosalynn Funnell joined Woking Borough Council in February last year as a senior manager in housing – and in that short time she has achieved an outstanding amount. At every opportunity, Rosalynn has gone over and above. For a recent mindfulness event, she spent time over Christmas making salt dough charms for attendees to colour in, which was a big hit. Rosalynn is an inspiration to Woking’s staff and residents. After hearing her speech and passion at a communities and housing scrutiny committee, a tenant phoned in to ask to become a housing volunteer with the team.

Rosalynn has also pushed to gain feedback from younger residents. She and her team have recently attended local schools to talk about careers in housing and local authorities. She has also created new ways of working through volunteering; not only by increasing volunteer numbers but also by going out to communities, even in the evening or at weekends, to set up focus groups and gain resident feedback.

Rosalynn’s passion and commitment are as unwavering as her drive and creativity.

The judges said:

“Rosalynn has done a great job under difficult circumstances in key areas that help determine how good a landlord is. An impressive list of achievements for one year. Keep it up!”
