Women Thrive – Switchee
Switchee’s Women Thrive programme is a response to ongoing disparities in pay and senior representation in the housing sector. It takes a three-pillared approach – pay equity, career development and retention strategies – to ensure that women working at Switchee can build fulfilling, long-term careers.
Pay equity: Switchee has reduced the gender pay gap by 20% thanks to a transparent pay review system that involves annual gender and race pay gap analyses.
Career development: Switchee provides a structured career development framework, while its annual promotions process ensures women are consistently considered for leadership opportunities.
Retention strategies: these include an enhanced maternity leave policy that provides better financial security and flexible return-to-work options, while Switchee’s flexible working policy allows parents to tailor their work schedules around family commitments, helping retain female talent at critical career points. Through this initiative, which also includes mentorship, succession planning, and inclusive leadership training, Switchee has set out to build a workplace where women don’t just have a seat at the table – they are leading the conversation.
The judges said:
“Working for Switchee sounds like what I hope many companies will follow in the near future. This is different and new and I love where this company is heading”
